About Us

NDRSG is a community group governed by a constitution , run by a small committee group which meets with refugee families at a monthly meeting to set priorities ,promote opportunities and hears and acts on areas of concern. We have a large team of volunteers who provide a variety of roles: delivering material goods, transporting people to events/appointments, homework support for children, English conversation , gardening teams, befriending individual families, benefits and work advice, running events and activities.

We work in partnership with DCC ,Links our local CVS, Methodist Church, Chesterfield Muslim Welfare Association, Christians Together and the BME Forum.

NDRSG has provided and continues to provide support to the Refugee Council Rep. in Sheffield in delivering aid to asylum seekers in hotels in Sheffield.

Currently our refugee members are located in: Chesterfield, Bolsover, Clowne, Glapwell, Matlock, Wirksworth and Buxton.Volunteers live across north Derbyshire. Membership is free and automatic for any refugees and asylum seekers. Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer.

The committee meets regularly and monthly meetings are held with the representatives of the families and volunteers invited.

Zuhor Hamza is our volunteer community worker who also supports the group with translation when necessary.
